It’s the news laid off Tenneco workers in Owen Sound have been waiting to hear.
About 100 workers who have been on layoff because of a strike in the U.S, should be called back in to work soon.
American Axle has worked out a tentative contract settlement covering 3600 workers at 5 U.S. plants.
They have been on strike since the end of February.
American Axle supplies drive shafts and other parts to General Motors, and the strike led to layoffs in Owen Sound.
In fact, the walkout affected more than 30 G-M plants, including those in Oshawa and St. Catharines.
2 American Axle plants would close under the potential agreement, and wages would fall fromĀ $28 an hour to $17 for production workers, while the skilled trades workers fall from 30 to $25.50 an hour.
G-M says the strike at American Axle has cost the auto giant $800 million in the first quarter.
Tenneco officials tell Bayshore Broadcasting news, once the American Axle strike is officially over, the workers in Owen Sound will quickly get recall notices.
