Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller has issued a statement on the death of Federal NDP Leader Jack Layton.
Miller says he was saddened to learn of the death of Layton on Monday morning at the age of 61.
On behalf of Miller’s wife Darlene, his staff and constituents — Miller is offering his condolences to Olivia Chow and their family.
Miller says “I had the privilege of serving with Jack Layton in the House of Commons for seven years, and he will be greatly missed.”
In an interview with Bayshore Broadcasting News — the M-P for Bruce Grey Owen Sound says Jack Layton was a passionate Member of Parliament.
Although they often were on opposite sides of an argument, Miller says you had to respect the NDP leader for holding true to his beliefs.
The local MP says Layton will be sorely missed by the NDP, after taking the party through four Federal election campaigns and finally taking the post of official opposition on May 2nd.
