There are more youngsters in Hanover who know about fire safety.
The Hanover Fire Department completed its Junior Firefighter Summer program for 7 to 10 year old youth earlier this month.
Fire Chief Ken Roseborough says the kids learned about the importance of a home escape plan.
He notes they also had hands on training with a fire extinguisher, a fire hose and even specialty tools such as auto extrication.
Roseborough says the program was a success because youth soak up the information, retain it and share it with their family.
At the end of the program — each child received a smoke alarm, CO detector and a fire escape ladder.
