A 33 year old Owen Sound man is in hot water with police in connection with a recent rash of thefts.
Police say over the last two weeks — they’ve been investigating various thefts from vehicles on the east side of the city where in many cases GPS units were taken.
Police confirm they got a break in the case after a citizen alerted police they were approached by an unknown man trying to sell such units.
Police managed to track the suspect down on Friday on 8th Street East but when they approached him, they say he falsely identified himself and ran off.
After a short chase — police arrested him.
The suspect faces numerous charges – including five counts of theft and one of possession of stolen property, obstruction of police, escaping police and breach of probation.
Police say the man was also investigated for and charged with a theft of meat from a downtown grocery store.
The 33 year old man remains in police custody pending a bail hearing.
