A Grey County teacher is now a member of the Executive of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario.
The President of the Bluewater Teachers Union Local is now a member of the Executive for the Ontario federation.
Nancy Lawler of Chatsworth began her teaching career in 1986 with the former Grey County Board of Education.
She served as Vice President and then President of Bluewater Teacher Local Vice President beginning in 1999 — and has been a Chief Negotiator at contract time.
In accepting the executive role — Lawler focused on the provincial election campaign at the federation’s annual meeting.
She feels the October 6th election will be important for teachers to advocate for public education.
Lawler admits the needs for teachers are varied and numerous — but she also says they play a large role in contributing to a fair and just society.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario represents 76 thousand elementary public school teachers and education professionals in Ontario.
