Bruce Telecom has enjoyed a healthy second quarter.
In its report to Kincardine council — Chief Financial Officer Bart Cameron reported the net income in the quarter was just over 320 thousand dollars.
The budgeted income was set at just over 120 thousand dollars, resulting in a healthy increase over budget.
Cameron noted revenue is above budget by over 200 thousand dollars as sales of cellular and TV continue to grow while existing services have remained strong.
He says though, in year to date figures, 2011 has realized just over 825 thousand dollars in net income while last year that figure was just over 993 thousand dollars.
Cameron says income for the first half of the year declined because operating expenses particularly in labour and marketing was up 210 thousand dollars.
Cameron says there are still many challenges in the marketplace as competitors look to gain a foothold.
He says their answer is to focus on their core services and products and make them the best they can be.
The municipality benefits from Bruce Telecom receiving dividends from the investment.
