At least they will be tomorrow when they host a fundraising pet wash.
It’s in aid of the continuing treatment of Saugeen Shores K-9 unit dog Titan.
Recently Titan fractured a leg while playing and has been through surgery and is looking at physiotherapy.
On Soundingboard today Titan’s handler Constable Andy Stewart says police will be at the Sunset Car and Pet Wash on Goderich Street in Port Elgin from noon to 3pm tomorrow, washing dogs for a donation.
Stewart says they’ll take care of the washing, but pet owners are asked to bring their own drying towels.
Titan has been on the police force for the past two years and is pretty mobile, but has to stay off the broken leg.
Stewart says x-rays so far look good and a further report will be made in June when Titan re-visits doctors in Guelph.
Stewart hopes Titan will be back on partial duty in four months.
Monies raised will help pay Titan’s medical bills and raise funds for the purchase of the next K-9 member as well.
