Work is well underway on Walkerton’s long awaited Best Western Hotel.
Brockton Mayor David Inglis says the shovel has hit the ground and the entire project should be complete by Spring.
So far the footings have been poured and the walls will soon being go up.
The luxury 50 room hotel will feature a banquet hall, indoor pool and a fitness centre.
Inglis calls it exciting to think that Walkerton will soon be home to one of the world’s largest hotel chains.
The new Hotel will employ a staff of 80.
Inglis is confident the Best Western will serve as an economic driver for Brockton.
He believes it will draw business to the region as well as boost tourism.
Inglis adds that the Best Western will also meet the high demand for accommodations that the Walkerton Clean Water School promises to create as it trains thousands of water treatment professionals over the years to come.
The Best Western will be located in Walkerton’s East Ridge Business Park.
The five million dollar plus project will take about eight months to complete.
