A VRE Outbreak within Grey Bruce Health Services continues this weekend.
However officials expect to declare the outbreak on its 6-1 medical unit over by Monday.
Final testing over the weekend will confirm lab results received on Saturday.
Those results indicated none of the patients on the medical unit have become sick or required treatment because of the bacteria.
The outbreak affected only one nursing unit (6-1) — all others are fully operational.
The decision to close the unit to new patient admissions was and remains a precautionary measure as a means of preventing further transmission of the bacteria.
In the meantime — a strict two visitor limit per patient remains in effect for the affected unit.
Visitors must also continue to follow the hospital’s handwashing protocols.
VRE can be passed on if you do not wash your hands and touch objects that other people have touched, such as bed rails, telephones or doorknobs.
