Stay the economic course.
It’s what Huron Bruce Conservative MP Ben Lobb believes his government will do as the rest of the world goes through a topsy-turvy economic crisis.
Lobb says Canada has demonstrated to the markets and to companies that set the credit ratings for countries that the government has its act together.
He says the companies like that kind of certainty and is one of the reasons we maintain our triple “A” rating.
Lobb says simply the government has its house in order while in the U-S that was not the case as witnessed over the past couple of weeks.
He says the Americans are starting to get everything together now but in the interim their credit rating has been downgraded from triple “A” to double “A-plus.”
Lobb cautions though, Canada is still at a sensitive recovery point and he believes Prime Minister Harper is trying to hedge Canadian trade bets.
Lobb points to dialogue with China and India, along with the European Union.
This week Harper is visiting South American countries with the same goal in mind–opening trade doors.
Lobb says the Conservatives are trying to create different trading partners so that they don’t have a total reliance on the U-S for business.
