Bruce County councillors says one is better than two.
Future Warden terms will remain at one year.
In earlier discussions some county councillors were leaning towards a two year term but after further thought, decided one year was enough.
As a result it was unanimous to maintain the one year term of Warden, who if they so desired, could always run for a second term, like Warden Mike Smith of Saugeen Shores did this year.
Smith said he ran for a second term because he felt he had some unfinished business he wanted to see through.
He did say there is not a third term in his future.
One of those who changed his mind on the length of term was Councillor Bill Goetz of South Bruce who felt a two year term could scare away some potential candidates who were only prepared to offer one year.
County councillors agreed the Warden’s work load was a deciding factor in staying with a one year term.
As it stands right now, there is only one hat in the ring for Bruce County Warden next year and that’s Dave Inglis of Brockton.
