The Hanover and District Hospital has found a second surgeon.
Doctor Alia Qureshi will start a general surgery locum practice at the Hanover hospital in September.
Vice President of Patient Services Esther Millar says Doctor Qureshi will work in Hanover for two days a week.
Millar is glad to finally land a second surgeon since the position has been vacant for sometime.
Millar tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they will now be able to provide more surgeries for local residents.
Doctor Qureshi specializes in anti-reflux, esophageal surgeries and laparoscopic procedures.
Millar also points out Doctor Qureshi will provide some relief for Hanover’s other surgeon, Doctor Hector Duque.
Doctor Qureshi lives in Toronto and will commute to Hanover for work two days a week.
Millar says it’s a short term agreement — but they hope to negotiate a longer arrangement in the future.
