A 37 year old woman from Owen Sound has a date in court — following a crash in the Scenic City.
Owen Sound Police say they were notified of a driver leaving the scene of a collision on 1st Avenue by the Owen Sound Harbour around 1:15 AM on Saturday.
Police arrived on scene and managed to stop the female.
Damage to the vehicle was severe — as the force of the crash tore a wheel off the vehicle and caused extensive damage to the front end.
Investigation revealed the driver was heading southbound on 1st Avenue when she jumped the curb and collided with a concrete abutment on the harbour wall.
Further investigation, revealed the suspect had been drinking.
Police say she was taken to the police station where breath tests showed she was two and a half times over the legal limit.
The woman will appear in court August 18th.
She is charged with impaired driving, operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol and failing to remain at an accident.
Her vehicle has been impounded and her license suspended.
