South Bruce Peninsula Council is going to proceed with the installation of water meters across the municipality.
It’s now mandatory for anyone connected to the municipal system to have a water meter.
Council on Tuesday approved borrowing money from reserves to pay for the installations.
The town is trumpeting the benefits of water meters — by suggesting residents will be able to monitor and control their water use.
Mayor John Close says water meters is a sound environmental step forward because it will help conserve water.
Manager of Public Works Phil Dwyer says customers who have been on the waiting list will now be provided appointments.
Those who have not yet booked an installation can do so by using the phone number in their mailout (1-800-667-4387).
