The OPP Marine Units will be out in full force this weekend to make sure you are being safe in the water.
Police will also make sure you have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
It is now against the law to operate a motorized watercraft without one.
Boatsmart Canada President Cameron Taylor says there is really no reason not to have a pleasure craft licence.
He tells Bayshore Broadcasting News all of the material you need is online — and you can take the test online today to get your temporary permit right away.
If you do not have an operator card — you can be fined a minimum 250 dollars.
Taylor estimates there are about seven million boat operators in Canada — and just over half have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
Taylor also wants people to practice safe boating this long weekend.
He reminds you to keep an eye out for other vessels and always wear a lifejacket.
