Police have now released the name of the man killed in a motorcycle crash just west of Owen Sound.
24 year old Thomas McCartney of Allenford in Bruce County died after his motorcycle collided with a van on Highway 21 around 6 PM on Tuesday.
McCartney had just completed the auxiliary program with Owen Sound Police.
Grey County OPP say the motorcycle collided with a van turning left into a parking lot, just east of Grey Road 3.
The impact threw McCartney off his bike — 2002 Suzuki motorcycle — and into a north ditch where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van — a Grey County woman — was not hurt.
Police are still investigating.
The section of Highway 21 from Springmount to Jackson re-opened around 2:30 AM Wednesday — about eight and a half hours after the crash.
