The Southwest Local Health Integration Network wants to improve the care you receive in hospital emergency departments.
The organization has hired Doctor Jon Dreyer as its Emergency Department Lead.
Senior Director Mark Brintnell says the Lead’s job is to find efficiencies in emergency departments to help improve care and reduce wait times.
Brintnell claims some of the best emergency medicine practices are right here in Grey Bruce.
He notes the Wiarton Hospital has the highest positive rating for emergency care in Ontario.
The doctors at the Southampton hospital would disagree.
As we told you Monday — they claim the conditions in the E-R at Saugeen Memorial Hospital are deteriorating and putting lives at risk.
Doctor Dreyer will be tasked to work with hospital and physician partners to develop new strategies to improve E-R efficiencies and to reduce wait times.
Just last week — the Ontario Health Coalition says the province’s occupancy rate for hospital beds is close to 98 per cent — and that is threatening patient safety.
