Very special recognition of volunteers in our area and across the country is being considered by none other than Prime Minister Harper.
Huron-Bruce Conservative MP Ben Lobb says nominations are open for the Prime Minister’s Volunteer Awards.
Only three such awards will be handed out in Ontario and 17 for the entire country.
Lobb says the PM wants to recognize people who go above and beyond the call of community duty in giving of their time to local causes and organizations.
Lobb tells us that volunteering in all sectors of community work is being considered in the award nominations.
The program seeks to be as inclusive as possible so that volunteers in all possible fields can be recognized.
Lobb encourages you to nominate a worthy volunteer in your community by the September 9th nomination deadline.
He says you can nominate a volunteer directly through Prime Minister Harper’s website or through Lobb’s constituency offices in Goderich and Port Elgin.
