A Hanover woman has won the grand prize for the Princess Margaret Hospital Home Lottery for Cancer Research.
Mona Duffy’s name was pulled from a drum yesterday morning.
She wins a five bedroom, five bathroom, fully furnished dream home in Woodbridge as well as a new Mercedes car — worth a total of $2.4 million.
Duffy tells Bayshore Broadcasting News she is in total shock.
Duffy — a retired high school teacher — shares the ticket with Shannon Logie — a teacher at John Diefenbaker Secondary School.
Duffy says she bought the ticket out of support for a friend, who has cancer.
Ironically — Duffy was planning to go to Princess Margaret hospital today for a routine test as part of a study.
So when hospital officials called — she thought it was about the appointment.
Duffy says she will now stop by the new dream house to get a first hand look.
Duffy doesn’t know what she will do with the house until after she talks to Logie but says she loves Grey Bruce.
The two women do have to keep the car as part of the contest rules.
