Unit 2 at the Bruce A nuclear generating station in Tiverton is one step closer to restarting.
Bruce Power says staff loaded the final fuel bundle into Unit 2 this week.
It took about two weeks for operators to manually install almost 58 hundred fuel bundles into the 480 fuel channels on the reactor face.
Pending further regulatory approvals, Unit 2 is expected to synchronize with the province’s electrical grid by the end of the year.
Unit 1 is also expected to connect to the grid early next year.
The cost of the restart of the two units is expected to reach 4.8 billion dollars.
Once restarted, Units 1 and 2 at Bruce A will produce 15 hundred megawatts of electricity.
