Walkerton is hosting its own Amazing Race today.
The poker run style fundraiser is being hosted by the family of Molly MacDonald.
She was the 10 year old that was killed in a tragic bike car collision in Walkerton four years ago.
In honour of her daughter, Muriel MacDonald is raising funds for ‘Molly’s House.’
The project involves raising money to help children living in extreme poverty.
Last year the community rallied behind the concept through a different fundraiser and raised enough money to build a home for a family of nine in Guatemala.
This year, MacDonald hopes to take on a similar project through the poker run.
MacDonald says she’ll never get to see her daughter grow up and live out her dreams — but she can help another family while keeping Molly’s memory alive.
MacDonald says Molly’s House is a tribute to her daughter who was well known for her compassionate heart and eagerness to help others.
She encourages as many as possible to participate in the Amazing Race.
Registration begins at 9 AM at Lobbie’s Park in Walkerton and the fee is 10 dollars.
All modes of transportation are welcomed.
The 203 kilometre Amazing Race begins and ends at Lobbies Park — with check points in Markdale, Chesley and Port Elgin to name a few.
The race will wrap up at 5 PM followed by a BBQ and a silent auction
MacDonald hopes that this will become an annual event.
