South Bruce Peninsula residents may soon have to adhere to a by-law banning “unusual noise”.
At Tuesday’s Council meeting — Deputy Chair Janice Jackson told council the problem stems from barking dogs.
She notes the current noise by-law states that any persistent noise will be fined, with the exception of ‘working dogs’.
Jackson says they will look at amending the by-law to include working dogs — which are used to protect livestock at farms.
Jackson adds that she understands farmers have the right to protect their livestock, but it’s not fair to other residents if they are constantly barking through the night.
The issue will go through a third reading at the next committee of the whole meeting and the amendment will be voted on then.
