There will be a public inquest in British Columbia into the shooting death of former Owen Sound resident.
The coroner’s office in B-C has called the inquest into the death of Wilbert Bartley.
The 50 year old former Owen Sound resident was killed last July when he was shot by an RCMP officer in Kamloops after an altercation at a strip mall.
No date has been set yet for the inquest.
Calgary Police investigated the shooting and the Attorney General’s office concluded there was insufficient evidence to lay charges.
Bartley’s mother, Catherine, still lives in Owen Sound and feels there is a coverup in her son’s death.
Bartley is still pushing for more information to be released.
She acknowledges her son was “no angel” and had a “lengthy” criminal record — but insists he wasn’t a violent man.
