The longtime former Director of Transportation and Public Safety for Grey County says he was fired — and did not retire.
Gary Shaw’s lawyer tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he was fired without cause on May 16th, after working over 45 years for Grey County.
The firm Blake, Cassels and Graydon claims Shaw is upset about statements by CAO Lance Thurston that he left on his own terms.
The statements were made after Grey County Council received a report one week ago about the need for a major overhaul in the TAPS department.
The review accuses “certain departmental managers” of creating a “longstanding climate of oppression and fear.”
Shaw’s lawyer tells Bayshore Broadcasting News Shaw denies the allegations made against him in the report.
He was interviewed for a mere 5 to 10 minutes for this report and has never seen the final document.
Shaw has hired an employment lawyer and is consulting with legal counsel to protect his reputation in the community.
