The sixth annual Medquest summer program accepted thirty students from Bruce and Grey this year.
Chair of the Walkerton Medquest Committee Myrna Inglis says the program is twofold.
It’s a six-week program where three medical students from the University of Western come to Grey and Bruce to gain clinical experience.
The students then become councillors for the summer program which introduces Grade 10 and 11 students to various health care professionals.
One of the councillors is Bruce County native Amanda Wilhelm.
Inglis says some former Medquest students have come back to the area to work in Healthcare, including at least 10 nurses and one Grey County EMS.
Medquest camp runs July 11th to the 15th at Walkerton District Secondary School.
At the camp, Inglis says students learn how to take vital signs, suturing, patient interviewing and how to respond to a mock disaster.
