A Hanover teen has taken Gold at the National Skills Canada Competition.
Rebecca Scott is the first student in the Bluewater District School Board to ever win Gold at the nationals.
Scott — a student at John Diefenbaker Secondary School — won her title in the Job Interview Process.
The competition included a resume, cover letter, references and a fake job interview.
Scott says the secret to a successful job interview is to be confident in who you are and what you bring to the table.
She says the experience she gained will no doubt assist her in future endeavours.
Scott is heading to Lakehead University in the Fall to become pursue a teaching career.
She encourages other students to get involved the Skills Canada Competition.
There are numerous categories including carpentry, culinary arts, precision machinery, small powered equipment, welding, hair styling and automotive services.
Scott feels there is real merit in the Skills Canada Competition and she hopes the local school boards will continue to support it.
