Its estimated that every single day in Ontario, one person is involved in an accident that leaves them with a spinal cord injury.
Those living with such injuries face numerous obstacles ranging from health concerns to accessibility issues.
The Canadian Paraplegic Association’s Grey Bruce chapter is holding an information session for those living with spinal cord injury, their families and caretakers as well as health care providers.
CPA spokesperson Jackie Bloom says they’ll feature two guest speakers discussing aging and travelling with spinal cord injuries.
The CPA helps those injured from the time of their hospital stay to their eventual return home as well as assisting as their needs change over the years.
The information session is being held this afternoon at the Owen Sound Legion.
The Canadian Paraplegic Association was founded by a group of paralysed World War 2 veterans determined not to spend their lives in a hospital room.
