The MP for Bruce Grey Owen Sound supports the idea of making mail delivery an essential service.
Larry Miller supported the back to work legislation that forced an end to the strike by Canada Post employees.
Miller says he considers mail an essential service and his constituents wanted the strike to end.
Miller adds he is still hearing from people affected by the slow down.
The union for postal workers is not happy with the federal government’s decision — but Miller says the majority of people supported the legislation.
Miller adds during the strike, many residents and small businesses turned to alternatives which he says contributes to the decrease in mail volume.
Miller is also concerned with rural mail delivery, which he says has been in danger of disappearing.
He adds that issue of rural mail is one of the main reasons he thinks mail delivery should be an essential service.
