Food services are changing this week at hospitals run by South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
Corporate Communications Director Frank Sauve says they are going to a new re-thermalizing system for food which reduces overall costs significantly.
Sauve says management decided to look for a new system after daily costs climbed to about 96 dollars per-day per-patient, or about double the provincial average.
The new meal delivery service is being implement this week at the Kincardine and Walkerton hospitals.
Sauve says the new service has been in operation at Chesley and Durham hospitals for several weeks with mostly positive feedback.
The change reduces the workload for staff, which means they can handle servicing more than one hospital at a time.
Sauve says some older staff decided to accept early retirement and there were no layoffs as a result of the food service changes.
