The Saugeen Shores Relay For Life takes place tonight at Saugeen District Secondary School in Port Elgin.
Cancer survivor Bruce Fenton says the money raised from previous events helped him with travel expenses during a challenging time in his life.
The first two relays in Saugeen Shores have raised about 330 thousand dollars.
Fenton says knowing his community was behind him in the fight of his life meant more than words can describe.
Fenton add’s that while the Relay for Life is a great fundraiser, it’s also great for raising hope.
The theme for the 3rd annual Relay for Life event in Saugeen Shores is “Colour for a Cure” and features a 12 hour relay with close to 50 teams.
Those teams are asked to dress in a team colour and decorate their campsites with that colour — which represents which cancer they’re fundraising for.
Also on tap this year is plenty of music entertainment with nine live bands, a live auction, BBQ, and the always inspiring survivors victory lap.
The site at SDSS opens at 5 PM and the opening ceremony is at 7 PM.
