Owen Sound Mayor Deb Haswell is looking forward to working with the head of the Chamber of Commerce.
In an interview with Bayshore Broadcasting News, Haswell says she has met three times recently with the Chamber President, and she is excited about the new fresh approach being offered.
However, at a business meeting on Thursday — the Mayor is quoted as saying she can’t understand the negative stance by some on the Chamber, when it comes to the new city Council.
At that meeting, Mayor Haswell slammed the recent Chamber of Commerce newsletter, saying it was full of half truths and misinformation.
In talking with Bayshore Broadcasting news, the mayor says the newsletter fails to acknowledge any changes at city hall in terms of business or economic development.
She says the city is moving to attract new business, and is working hard to retain businesses that already exist in the Scenic City.
Mayor Haswell gives full marks to the Manager of Community Development, Steve Furness, who has been trying hard to drum up new business in the city.
