It was a busy Canada Day weekend on the Bruce Peninsula.
The OPP on the Peninsula was involved in 205 occurrences — with 105 calls being in the Sauble Beach area.
In one case — 46 year old woman from Elora was bitten by a Massasauga Rattlesnake near Tammy’s Cove Road.
Police say the woman tried to pick up the snake — not realizing that it was a Massassauga — and she was treated for minor superficial wounds.
A further breakdown reveals that of those 205 calls — 46 were noise, traffic, or offences under the Liquor Licence Act.
Over the weekend, there were a total of 119 tickets served — 54 in Sauble Beach — for traffic and liquor offences.
Bruce Peninsula OPP also checked 55 boats in the Sauble Beach and Oliphant areas — and 7 charges were laid — mostly for not having proper safety equipment or a licence.
