A big boost for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation’s latest campaign.
Women in Saugeen Shores have banded together to help the Chantry Island Cham-bettes raise $10,500 for the campaign.
The Cham-bettes challenged local women’s groups to participate in the “bosom buddies” campaign, which included a minimum two dollar donation and ten friends.
Organizers say the campaign exceeded expectations.
The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is helping other local hospital foundations to raise a total of 1.5 million dollars for the Owen Sound Regional Hospital this year.
The money will go toward bringing two new digital mammography machines to the hospital’s unit.
One unit has been in place since June 6th and over 500 exams have been completed to date.
Patients are happy with the new equipment, saying the x-ray plate is warmer, it’s faster and more comfortable.
And staff say the image quality is amazing — which helps with making a diagnosis.
