Hanover has named its Senior of the Year.
Long time volunteer and retired Public Health Nurse Donna Gaasenbeek is this years recipient.
Gaasenbeek admits she is somewhat overwhelmed by the award.
She has been volunteering with the Hanover Library and Horticulture Society since 1995, and is also involved with her church and sings in the choir.
Gaasenbeek calls volunteer work very rewarding, but she says it’s better for people to pick an activity that interests them.
She also says Hanover is fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers.
Mayor Kathi Maskell commends Gaaenbeek for all her years of service and looks forward to her continued contribution in the years to come.
