A three year deal has been struck that sees management of the Owen Sound Billy Bishop Airport, move from City Hall to a group of entrepreneurs.
Mayor Deb Haswell tells Bayshore Broadcasting News Council met in special session on Wednesday and approved the idea.
Haswell says the city retains ownership of the airport.
Although it will mean some savings for Owen Sound, and less work for staff — there will be no job cuts at city hall.
Mayor Haswell is hopeful that the aviation enthusiasts at CYOS Aviation Management will expand use of the facility.
The new group takes over control of the Billy Bishop airport on July 1st.
Haswell says the group taking over management has a vested interest in the facility and will do whatever they can to make the airport hum.
