A commitee has been formed between the two fire halls within the South Bruce Peninsula following the release of its fire chief.
Fire Chief Terry Hutchinson was relieved of his position as Manager of Emergency Services earlier this month; a position which included being the chief.
It’s not known whether the position will be replaced; for now, the council has said the two station chiefs in Wiarton and Sauble Beach are in charge.
No one knows why Hutchinson was let go either, and council refuses to comment on the decision made in camera.
Committee member and Sauble Beach volunteer firefighter, Ken McManus says the group is meeting tonight.
He says they will talk about where they go from here, without official leadership.
McManus says they can’t do anything about the firing; but what they can do, is remain positive.
He does admit the situation is frustrating; this is the third time in nine years, the chief has been taken away from the team.
He says now, the community is left without a leader, as is the department.
McManus wonders what happens to decisions with regards to things like the budget, what’s needed training wise, and equipment wise.
