It won’t be the sap that is flowing, but information at the joint meeting in Stratford of three of the largest Maple Syrup Producer groups in North America this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Grey Bruce Maple Syrup Producers Association President Nick Bereznick is there this week with about 300 other producers from across the continent.
He says for local producers this is a great opportunity to tap into a vital source of new information and research about the industry.
Bereznick says there will be four main themes of this years conference consisting of sap and syrup production systems, sugar bush health and productivity, value added products and marketing and quality a assurance programs.
He says the value added part of the industry is really begriming to grow with such products like maple seasonings and BBQ sauces and marinades.
Bereznick also says another important aspect of this conference is dealing with the health of the sugar bush.
He says in Grey Bruce the trees have come through the summer in very good heath even after fighting of a caterpillar infestation.
