Wiarton Willie will have to go it alone this year when he emerges from his lair to predict how much longer winter will last.
South Bruce Peninsula tried auctioning off the “Groundhog experience” on e-bay with a reserve bid of just under 750 dollars.
Economic Development officer Danielle Mulasmajic says unfortunately, no bids came in before the auction closed on Friday.
She blames the sour economy and says the town will try another auction in a years’ time.
The groundhog experience was successfully auctioned off last year to a Calgary family for 17 hundred dollars.
It included 3 nights accomodation and a front row seat for the Wiarton Willie groundhog prediction on Feb. 2nd, along with participation in all the weekend events.
Mulasmajic says they couldn’t extend the auction on e-bay because all the details had to be finalized by now for anyone to take part in the experience.
