The annual Tim Hortons Georgian Cup Snowcross Races are set for this weekend at Victoria Park in Owen Sound.
The snow and cold temperatures leading up to the event have been welcomed by the Eastside Snowmobile Club — who host the event.
Members started working on the track at Victoria Park yesterday and will continue to do so today.
In recent years, mild, and sometime damp conditions have hindered the club in constructing the race course.
But Event co-chair Peter van Dolder says natural snow combined with snow that was trucked in from various locations have made for ideal conditions.
Van Dolder notes the frigid conditions this week have also helped.
Van Dolder adds the milder temperatures this weekend should make it pleasant for the fans and the competitors alike.
The 2009 Tim Hortons Georgian Cup is expected to attract close to 500 driver entries.
The Tim Hortons Georgian Cup begins at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning and resumes on Sunday morning at 11 AM.
