The winter weather is wrecking havoc on the south end of the Grey Bruce Line.
The amount of precipitation during the Christmas holidays caused a section of the road located North of Scone to wash out.
Bruce County Highways Engineer Brian Knox brought up the incident at yesterdays Highways Committee meeting in Walkerton.
Knox says the culverts that were installed last summer were not able to handle the amount of rainfall that came down on December 28, 2008.
The committee were shown photos of the damage to the road and a concrete barricade that is now in place around the large hole.
Knox says there will be remedial treatment taking place once the water subsides.
He says work is expected to begin sometime in early Summer.
Knox says he has asked workers to inspect and monitor other roads and bridges to see if there is any damage or debris.
He feels the rising waters may cause other culverts to overflow.
Knox says both Bruce and Grey County will be working out the details on how much the work will cost.
