Warren “Smokey” Thomas says the cuts announced Wednesday have nothing to do with cuts that will be brought in by the Local health integration network (LHIN) in order to balance the books of hospitals in the province.
Thomas says his union estimates 70% of the hospitals in Ontario are facing job cuts this year in order to balance the books.
He points the finger of blame at Queens Park, saying the province continues to underfund health care in Ontario.
Grey Bruce health services acting CEO Maureen Solecki says the 20 job cuts just announced do not mean any program eliminations.
In an exclusive interview with Bayshore Broadcasting news, Thomas scoffed at that, saying services are being cut to the bone and it may be next to impossible to access services you need, at the local level.
