Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, and Huron-Kinloss are members of the organization, along with local chambers of commerce, tourism committees, the Bruce County Museum, and Ontario Parks.
It’s goal is to promote tourism awareness along the Lake Huron Shoreline.
The town provides six thousand dollars worth of funding to the organization each year and the organization hopes the support continues.
Chair Paul Crysler says major projects they undertook in 2008 included getting interpretive plaques for local lighthouses and access points along the Saugeen River as well as website upgrades.
A cycling map and mobile lighthouse display were also developed.
Crysler says the cycling map will be completed this year as well as efforts with the Bruce County Astronomical Society to mark the International Year of Astronomy.
Plans are in place to have a cycling route stretching from Sauble Beach to Point Clark.
He says they also hope to coordinate efforts more with bird watching activities at MacGregor Point Provincial Park.
Crysler says whatever the economic climate, people still take holidays.
He says focusing on eco-tourism and outdoor activities is a good idea because those experiences don’t usually cost as much for tourists.
Councillor Luke Charbonneau says the organization has a great website and appreciates the work the Lake Huron Shoreline Tourism Partners do to bring tourists to Saugeen Shores.
