Director of Navigation for Seaway Marine Transport, Captain Tom Anderson says two and possibly three vessels will spend the rest of the winter undergoing repairs.
He says the Collingwood build, 24 thousand ton Agawa Canyon arrives in port in the next day or so and the 27 thousand ton Algomarine has been berthed on the east side of the harbour for the past two weeks.
The Algo Marine was build by Davie Shipbuilding in Lauzon Quebec in 1968.
Captain Anderson says a third ship, the Algo Steel could winter here in Owen Sound, but that depends on ice conditions on the great lakes.
The 18 thousand ton Algo Steel was constructed by Davie Shipbuilding in 1966.
He says the repair work this winter will see steel work, maintenance work on the self unloading booms and preventative maintenance on the vessels engines.
Captain Anderson says they once again chose Owen Sound for winter lay up because of the quality of the berths and the quality of the workforce in and around the area.
