Huron Bruce Conservative MP Ben Lobb predicts a bold budget, but a user-friendly one when the document is presented in Parliament on January 27th.
On Soundingboard – Lobb says he expects to see personal and corporate income tax cuts and he hinted there might even be a drop in the sales tax, although he was quick to say that is harder to predict.
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty who is on a pre-budget tour hinted today that there might be some personal income tax cuts after all.
Lobb admits his party has been focussing a lot of their efforts on helping businesses but he says they’re the ones that create the jobs.
He says when people are making money, they spend it.
When they’re out of work, no spending is done and that hurts the economy.
Lobb says Flaherty is consulting with all members of parliament for input and he labels this upcoming budget as Canada’s budget and not the Conservative’s budget.
With that in mind, he believes the budget will be approved by the majority in the House of Commons.
Lobb has followed through on one of his campaign promises.
He has opened a Saugeen Shores constituency office for this end of the riding.
He says the office is located on Highway 21 near the current Wal Mart site and the former site of Robert Q. travel.
Lobb says the office will be open each day from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
The number is 519-832-2999.
