Public Works Director Ken Gould says they’ve got the frazil ice situation under control for the moment.
He says they brought in four high hoes just before Christmas and mother nature also helped when things warmed up a little.
However Gould says they’ve since had to have the heavy equipment back in over the weekend to prevent a further build up.
Gould says West Grey council does set money aside for frazil ice in its budget each year but the municipality is also eligible for 50 percent funding through the MNR under its flood prevention program.
Gould says they have to keep a watchful eye on the river since it flooded half of Durham twelve years ago.
