Grey County is planning for the future.
County council and staff held a two-day strategic planning session in the Town of the Blue Mountains on Friday and Saturday.
Warden Kevin Eccles says the main points of discussion revolved around waste management and the county’s governance structure.
He says council did not get into any specifics, adding there were no decisions made.
Eccles says with waste management, the county is looking at what options are out there and what other counties are doing at the upper tier.
He says they would also like more information on the new technology and on Southgate’s gasification program.
Eccles says there was a lot of discussion around the county’s structure and whether the warden should be elected for a one-year or multi-year term.
He says the county’s governance structure has been the same for the last 150 years and may need to be tweaked.
Eccles says it was a good very session, adding it was great to strategically think about the future of the county.
