For a Toonie, they can buy their way out of afternoon classes to attend the last regular season hockey game for the SDSS Lady Royals.
Assistant coach George Condy says it’s a special game because it will be played in memory of SDSS student and hockey player Caitlin Cobean.
Caitlin passed away in August last year after a battle with cancer.
Condy says the game will also feature a couple of draws and a chuck-a-puck promotion with lots of prizes donated by local businesses.
He says all money raised will go to two charities on behalf of Caitlin–Brainchild and
POGO, the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario.
Condy says the game is open to the general public as well and admission is free.
The game is scheduled for 2pm Wednesday at the Plex in Port Elgin with the Georgian Bay Lady Vikings visiting.
Condy says the hockey club is currently in third place, two points out of first and if they win their remaining three games, they will lock up first and a first-round bye in the playoffs scheduled for next month.
