Construction is taking place at 98 the Beach in Port Elgin on Goderich Street.
The wind storm December 28th twisted and knocked down the radio station’s signal tower and network satellites.
Station manager Rob Brignell says fortunately no further damage was done, and no one was injured.
Brignell says the station was knocked off the air for some time that day, but back on soon after in a limited capacity.
He says a new tower is going up, with a further enforced concrete base to withstand winds as strong or even stronger than sustained during the storm.
Brignell says contractors will break up the pavement Monday – the tower arrives Tuesday and a crane will put the tower in weather permitting Wednesday or Thursday.
Brignell says we SHOULD be sounding solid once again by the end of this week.
We at 98 the Beach thank all of our listeners for their continued patience as we “fix” our issues.
