Georgian Bluffs Council will be inviting some residents to their next environmental committee meeting.
Manager of Operations, Michael Day, says they need to discuss the possibility of municipal water main connections for about 20 property owners along Grey Road 1.
The current water main runs along Grey Road 1 until Alexandra Street, and then follows Alexandra.
Day says the remaining properties along the road are not connected, and run off well systems.
He says the township wants to look at the possibility of extending that main along Grey Road 1 into the Cobble Beach development.
There is one problem – Grey County is planning on repaving that section of Grey Road 1 this summer construction season, and Day says they need to get the lines in before that happens.
He says once it’s paved, it’ll probably be another 15-20 years before they can rip it up to install lines and connect iy to the properties across the road.
Day hopes to get in contact with all the residents along that stretch of road before Tuesday’s environmental committee meeting.
He says they can’t determine any costs until they know how many residents will be hooking up.
For now, the township will cover the cost to put in the line, because Day predicts every property owner will eventually want to be hooked up to the municipal system, and they’ll recoup the costs when that happens.
Day says they even have one resident so far who wants to be hooked up, even without knowing the cost.
