The idea had been floated around some time ago but a check with the chair of the Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation Barb Fisher indicates the idea didn’t fly with area business people.
The idea was to partner not only on a business side but on a cultural side as well with each locality mentoring the other with the hopes that business of some sort would evolve from it.
Fisher says the concept was studied and presented to the business community but there didn’t seem to be a lot of interest.
It was decided to drop the project.
However Fisher says there could be a re-visiting of the idea down the road but what with the way economies around the world are now, there isn’t much interest.
There was talk of a trip being organized to Xinyi, China but that has since been dropped as well.
